Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners Makes Temporary Changes in Response to the Coronavirus Outbreak

The TSBPE made the following temporary changes to assist the industry during the Coronavirus outbreak:

  1. All licenses/registrations expiring on March 31 until May 31 will have their expiration dates extended due to potential challenges completing their CE course requirements. However, licensees/registrants will need to continue to pay their fees and meet the renewal requirements by completing a correspondence course as soon as they can. In addition, the TSBPE has asked the Cities to recognize that they have extended the expiration of the license date so as not to prohibit the purchasing of permits or obtaining inspections.
  2. Correspondence CE is allowed to count toward the Tradesman exam qualifications (instead of requiring an in-person course) and only one CE is required for the Journeyman exam (instead of two).
  3. Medical Gas CE is allowed via correspondence course, however the TSBPE has postponed all Medical Gas Installation Examinations scheduled March 20 through April 3.
  4. Exam applications are being accepted if the applicants on the job experience hours are complete, even if they have not been able to obtain the 24 or 48 hours of courses due to in-person courses being cancelled. Applicants will be expected to complete the courses by the exam date.
  5. Exams are still being administered, but that could change based on the current situation.
  6. TSBPE will temporarily allow until further notice all required training courses via LIVE VIRTUAL classroom for the following courses:  Plumbing & Med Gas CE, Residential Code, Commercial Code, Fire Sprinkler, and Water Supply Protection Specialist.
  7. Presently, all remote location examinations are postponed through May. All exam types scheduled for March 23 – March 27, 2020 in Austin are also postponed.

Information current as of 3/20/20

PHCC Texas Continues to Provide Education and Training

In response to the heightened guidance by the government on limiting contact, PHCC has suspended in-person classes through March. We are continuing to offer education through correspondence and will be updating our delivery methods to include live virtual classrooms until in-person training can be resumed.

If your license expires March 31 or April 30, we highly recommend ordering a correspondence course through PHCC and paying your renewal fees through TSBPE. When you place a correspondence order through PHCC, we ship you a packet (USPS Priority) containing a CE textbook, 150 True/False questions, and a two-page answer sheet. Upon completing the test, return only the answer sheet to us via email, fax or mail/delivery.

We follow a strict same day turnaround policy, meaning we grade your answer sheet and transfer your credit to the TSBPE the same day we receive it. We will also mail a hard copy of your certificate of completion and test score.

To order to a correspondence class, order online or call us at 512-523-8094.

We are fully staffed and are open for business. Call volumes are high, so if someone does not pick up, please leave a message or email us at info@phcc-tx.org and someone from our office will get back to you as soon as possible.

Please keep an eye on our website for more information, additional correspondence courses, and updated schedules.
